Community Rules

These ideas are drafts. New contributors may revise or add to them.

Member Rights

Every member of the community has the right to:

  • Express their viewpoint regardless of social background or personal achievements

  • Ask questions, seek clarification, and explore unclear matters

  • Be heard — time limits on calls are defined by protocols

  • Ask other members for help and receive support where possible

  • Decline if any condition is unacceptable to them

Opinions vs. Judgments

State opinions, not judgments, to keep dialogue constructive and safe. Judgments evaluate, compare, divide people, and can provoke conflict.

An opinion describes only your view on the issue — without personal remarks, comparisons, or evaluations.

"I see the solution to this issue as..., because..." "In this situation, it would be more convenient for me to..., because..." "I would like to share how..., because..."

A judgment evaluates, generalizes, or imposes conclusions on others.

"I think you are wrong" — a judgment disguised as an opinion. "You always say the same thing" — a judgment with generalization. "Just be quiet" — direct coercion. "I won't help these people because they are useless" — a judgment with evaluation.

Before Each Discussion

State your purpose and any questions or obstacles upfront. This helps the group stay focused and productive.

Not Allowed

  • Personal attacks or offensive remarks

  • Prohibiting someone from expressing their point of view

  • Criticism in any form

  • Moralizing

  • Comparisons

  • Evaluating actions as good/bad, right/wrong, better/worse

  • Unsolicited advice

  • Expressive or offensive language

Encouraged

  • Respectful attitude towards each other

  • Willingness to understand another's point of view — clarify, specify, ask questions

  • Support and help upon request

  • Expressing gratitude

  • Sincerity and honesty

The main rule of healthy communication: fix the problem, not the people studying it.

In the event of a misunderstanding, any member has the right to contact a moderator for clarification or to pause the discussion.

Rules for Moderators

A moderator is not a judge. They are a neutral party who does not take sides, provide emotional support, or evaluate participants' actions.

The moderator's role is to ensure the community space remains safe for all members — that everyone can express their point of view without being ridiculed or insulted.

The moderator may:

  • Pause a discussion if community rules are violated — resuming only after participants rephrase their messages in line with healthy communication rules

  • Use a separate chat to ask clarifying questions if conflict arises, helping parties understand what each was trying to convey

  • Redirect the discussion back to the intended topic if it strays

  • Close a discussion if it has run its course

  • Deny a member access to a discussion if they do not follow healthy communication rules or violate them more than twice
